I love the videos with bothI love the videos with both Arabic and English subtitles! But it would be great if the subtitles could be downloaded together with the video, then I could also study it while not connected to the internet. Is that somehow possible? Thanks so much! glad you like the videos!glad you like the videos! offering them for download is quite difficult though because we use the videos from Youtube and other websites, so actually we don't have a copyright on them. Mohamed What a cool companyThis is a real pleasure to visit your website, areg.amaksoud.com. Everything cool, just tell me what you are talking about By the way would you please? Thanks for your interest inThanks for your interest in our website. The lessonsThe lessons at this site are fabulous! Both the Modern Standard Arabic and the Egyptian Arabic. One small complaint - the audio is a little messy and hard to make out sometimes. But even so, this is a terrific site. By student at Tue, 2008-04-29 19:50 | reply | email this comment

Hi Damion, Welcome to ArEgHi Damion, thank youI'm a greek "struggling" to learn arabic and i think your lessons are really very interesting and helpfull but what about level 2? why u stopped to level 1 only? Thank you anyway cuz you helped me a lot. By student at Mon, 2008-01-07 21:49 | reply | email this comment
Thanks for feedback! I'mThanks for feedback! I'm glad the website helps you as well as others. I stopped at level 1 because of the lack of time and I'm not totally satisfied with the [platform], I hope I will start level 2 soon. Which songs are in MSA (or very close), can lyrics be enhancedمرحبا Excellent site, thank you very much! I wonder, if there are any songs sung in Modern Standard Arabic or almost, if there are any. If the songs are in Egyptian and Levantine Arabic, could some info be provided as to what words are different from standard or written Arabic in a the lyrics? I mean not just pronunciation (q dropping or replacing J with G in Egyptian but using of completely different words). Can some lyrics be enhanced to provide the vocabulary? It's not a criticism but some colloquial words are harder to find in dictionaries. شكرا جزيلا By student at Sat, 2008-01-05 15:30 | reply | email this comment
مرحبا Anatoli, ÄThaksمرحبا Anatoli, the remaining 5 songs are in the Egyptian dialect. Actually you can use the literal translation as a quick dictionary because words are mostly translated in the same order. Of course this is not going to provide all possible meanings of a given word, however, literal translation must be enough to understand the meaning of the word within the context of the song. shokran, By student at Sun, 2008-01-06 18:08 | reply | email this comment
Thank youThank you, Mohamed. Somehow I have a problem using my account, so I missed your reply. My account is my name - Anatoli. I will use your suggested 2 songs. An would also appreciate some small dictionary comparing Egyptian to MSA words and some grammar points. I am joining others, we need more songs! Dalida, Nancy Ajram, Amr Diab. Natacha Atlas, etc. On this Russian web-site there are some Amr Diab's songs, some lyrics are also available but no analyis. www . arabic . ru / hear / modern / diab This guy has done an amazing job too: Best regards, By student at Thu, 2008-08-21 00:29 | reply | email this comment
Mathematics:), as you know, this mathematics questions are there to stop spammers from overwhelming our feedback forms, I think this is 'arithmatic' though. I hope it doesn't bother you!
QuestionI have a question. On your website you write that "ahlen" means "hi" and "marhaba" means "welcome". But on the other Arabic lessons websites I found the opposite: "marhaba" means "hi" and "ahlen" means "welcome". I am confused. What should I say in Arabic? In English "hello" and "welcome" are not necessarily the same. Are they the same in Arabic? I mean, this would sound strange if I enter somebody elses shop and say "welcome" By student at Sun, 2007-12-16 15:19 | reply | email this comment
Very good siteYou're lucky I'm mathematically competent though...:\
Also, I like what you're doing but it would be handy if you could write in the Arabic in the Latin Alphabet too (i know you have on some...) as well as give some pronunciation tips. Even French pronunciation is hard for me, so I think I'll need a hand from the beginning on this...

Road mapDear All, - More fun: a set of games are being developed to make learning process more interesting and challenging. The first game will focus on teaching the alphabet and pronounciation. More games will allow you to practice what you learn from the lessons (extension to the idea of exercises on verbs). - Exams and certificates: the lessons for level 1 are almost complete. An exam module will be developed to measure how good you understood and learned the concepts in a given level. On passing the exam successfully, you will be certified for the given level. - Resources: applets to train you on basic vocabulary will be available. - Levels 2 & 3: the lessons available on the website so far constitute level 1 knowledge, lessons, exercises, vocabulary applets, maybe games for levels 2 & 3 will be offered. - Internationalisation: ArEg will be available in as many languages as possible. I'm getting to implement all these points, slowly but surely. Wish me good luck and post any of your appreciated suggestions. salaam, Mohamed MounirHi, My name is Vytenis. Site and VideosI think your site is wonderful. You have taken the time to create a very useful place for those who want to learn some Egyptian Arabic as this is hard to find. I especially like the videos with subtitles.. Can you find any more of Dalida with famous songs such as Salma ya Salama, Ahsan Nass etc. I love these songs but don't understand them. Arabic videos
Salaams,
Great idea with the videos with concurrent subtitles. I am studying Modern Standard Arabic and would love to see more videos with conversational dialogue. I think cartoons/kids programmes would probably be more on my level!
